We are a Legal Document Assistant company that can help prepare, serve, and file the documents required for Family Law matters such as divorce, custody, child support, visitation, or other legal matter in California.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

We are not attorneys, but we’ll make sure your documents are prepared to your specifications and at a cost significantly lower than that usually charged by an attorney.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

A website can’t reasonably answer all of your questions about legal document services, so give us a call at 661-873-4423 to schedule an appointment.\u00a0 Nevertheless, we will attempt to answer the most frequently asked questions:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

How much do you charge?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Significantly less than an attorney.\u00a0 A bit less than most other document services.\u00a0 More than online (offshore) document mills.\u00a0 Most divorces cost $710.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Will you appear in court with me or for me?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Absolutely not.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Do you charge a consultation fee?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

No.\u00a0 The initial consultation is free.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Will you help me win my case?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

No. We prepare documents. It is up to you to make the most of them and argue your case in court.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

What if I don’t live in Bakersfield?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

We prepare documents for litigants throughout California, but you may want to consider a local LDA if you’re are outside Kern County and wish to meet your LDA in person.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Do you do pro bono work?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Yes. We organize and attend weekly legal help clinics at the Beale Library in Bakersfield (see KernSeminars.com<\/a>).\u00a0 If you come to one of the clinics, you can get free legal advice from an attorney.\u00a0 However, if you want to come to our office, we want to get paid.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Do you take payments?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Yes, so long as the payments are all made at the same time and before the work starts.\u00a0 Payments can be made with cash, credit cards, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, or other major payment system.\u00a0 Banks don’t like it when we loan money, and we don’t like it when they help people with legal documents, so we try to stay out of each other’s businesses.\u00a0 However, if you really don’t have the cash or credit available, consider offering us chickens (young hens only), produce (no zucchini or tomatoes – we have enough), vehicles, silver, gold, or other items of value.\u00a0 Who knows?\u00a0 If you have something interesting to trade, we might just do it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

What if my papers get rejected?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

If we ever make a mistake in your papers (which, theoretically could happen someday), we will fix it at no charge.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Do you prepare Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs)?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

We can, but we found a company that only prepares QDROs, so we refer QDROs to them. Their information is at the bottom of the page. If you prefer for us to prepare your QDRO, we can still do it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Can you represent both me and my soon-to-be-ex-spouse?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

We don’t represent anyone.\u00a0 We prepare documents.\u00a0 We can prepare for both parties if you like, but it is usually best if each party has their own LDA.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Will you serve documents?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

We work with registered process servers and private investigators who can help ensure that your documents are served in a timely, professional manner.\u00a0 The person who prepares your documents probably won’t be the one who serves them, but we can help you find a competent process server to get the job done right.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Are you only in Kern County?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

We are Bakersfield, but we file papers throughout the county and we prepare paperwork for all California courts.\u00a0 We have associates in Fresno, Tulare, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Los Angeles Counties.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

So many people ask us “Where do I file?” that we made this short explanation.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Kern County has multiple court locations.\u00a0 We serve all locations in the county and prepare paperwork for divorces, child custody, parentage, support, guardianship, and other family law matters throughout California. A divorce, child custody action, or other family law matter is generally filed in the closest courthouse to the location of the property.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
